Tis the season to be jolly! However, as I walk down the streets of Manhattan and I see people walking with their hands filled holding on to their shopping bags. There are various organizations with the buckets or cannisters asking for donations to go to the homeless and those less fortunate. Almost every block has someone asking for money. A homeless man with his sign, a woman with her palms stretched out, another one with a cup, or those who are too tired to stay awake lay sleeping - some curled up in a corner while others spread out as if they are on their beds. Is this fair? Is this really their choice? Who would chose to be homeless, mentally unstable, hooked on drugs, prostitution or a criminal? I don't think so.
Tis the season to be reminded that you either are in the loop of things or you are not! While folks are gift giving to family, friends and co workers, there are many who have no one to give or receive from and they watch the shoppers, the decorated windows and city streets, the big festivities, folks dressed up to celebrate and they could only wish that they could share in it - even at minimum having a place to call their own and surrounded with people they love and care.
We need to talk, I need to hear what you have to say about this? Is this what you had in mind all along when you were creating this world? You know all things before they even happen so why would you do this to us? Why?
