What's Going On?

What on earth is going on? Why are so many things crashing all around us? The economy? Banks are failing to help after getting a bail, yet they fail to understand that others are suffering. Bonuses are given out, executives are treated to grand weekend get aways, yet hard working employees can't seem to get a raise, instead they receive the pink slip. Businesses are closing, creating more unemployed. People are losing their homes, their cars, trying to stay above the chaos. Swine Flu is trailing us and distracting us with the outbreak and deaths. Terrorist attacks are still in effect. Looks like it's evil time to rule.

Where are you God? What's Going On?

Flight 3407

As we barely break away from the elation of the Flight 1549 safely landing on the Hudson River in NY, the bells and whistles were yanked away with the recent flight crash of Flight 3407. I knew not to relish too long in the Miracle on the Hudson as it will only last short enough for something else to happen - but who could have imagined this horrific crash? Why?

Captain Sullenberger and Captain Renslow both had different conditions and different opportunities. Perhaps Captain Renslow and crew should be applauded for the landing -although it ended tragically, could have been far worse given the homes that were fairly close to each other.

Families, friends, co workers and all the rest of us who are saddened by the tragic death of the passengers on Flight 3407 we are all shocked. Not to mention, Mr.Douglas C. Wielinski who died while in his home with his wife and daughter (who were somehow spared)why? Why put the family through the guilt and the depression that they will surely face after having to deal with the knowledge that they somehow made it out alive. The what if I did? or I should have done? The continuous questions as they try to make sense of what has happened to their family. As I watch the reports of those who were supposed to be on that flight and missed it due to one reason or another, I wonder about the significance of it all.

The crew members who were on the job all had families and friends waiting, expecting to hear from them and no longer will be able to:

* Captain Marvin Renslow joined Colgan on September 9, 2005.
* First Officer Rebecca Shaw joined Colgan on January 16, 2008.
* Flight Attendant Matilda Quintero joined Colgan on May 28, 2008.
* Flight Attendant Donna Prisco joined Colgan on May 28, 2008.
* Captain Joseph Zuffoletto, an off-duty crewmember aboard flight 3407, joined Colgan on September 19, 2005.

The Passengers (partial list)

Alison Des Forges, of Buffalo, considered one of the world's leading experts on the genocide in Rwanda.

Beverly Eckert, of Stamford, Conn., an advocate on behalf of 9/11 families and responders. Ms. Eckert's husband died in the World Trade Center attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Ron Gonzalez, of New Brunswick, N.J., director of a youth services program.

Ellyce Kausner, a student at Florida Coastal School of Law.

Maddy Loftus, of Parsippany, N.J. on her way for a weekend reunion of women hockey players.

Coleman Mellett, played the guitar with jazz musician Chuck Mangione's band.

Lorin Maurer, fundraiser for Princeton University's athletics department.

Don McDonald a Canadian, a technical manager at Pharmetics Inc., a drug manufacturing plant in Fort Erie, Ont., where he worked for 26 years.

Donald Mossop was a technician for Xerox, while his wife was an executive secretary with drugmaker Schering-Plough their only child Shawn. Dawn Mossop's sister, Ferris Reid.

Gerry Niewood, played the saxophone and was also a member of jazz musician Chuck Mangione's band.

Mary Pettys, of West Seneca, N.Y. on her way back home after a business trip for her job as a software director for an insurance firm.

Jean Srnecz, of Clinton, N.J. was the Senior Vice President of merchandising at Charlotte, N.C.-based Baker and Taylor.

Susan Wehle, of Amherst, N.Y. was a Cantor at Temple Beth Am in Williamsville, NY since 2002.

Clay Yarber, of Riverside, Calif., member of several Tampa Bay, Fla.-area bands over the past several decades.

I cannot understand it at all. Why with all those who are left with the grief? Why? Do I pray for the families, friends, and others? What difference will it make? They're all gone.

The World is in Chaos

It has been quite a while since I last posted to this blog. Does it mean that I haven't had a need to speak to God? Of course not. I have never missed a day without talking to him. in fact, sometimes I wonder, is he listening? is he out there? is he real?

As we make so many technological and medical advances, we are still facing the same setbacks of the past that we sought to avoid. Here we are in the year 2009 almost a year since I posted and we have seen unspeakable suffering of so many lives.

The Banks, Mortgage Companies/Brokers, Investment Firms, Government, Health Care Industry (HMO's, et al.) Corporations and Major Businesses all betrayed us. People are suffering. Losing their homes, their jobs, becoming depressed and desperate, committing suicide, feeling worthless, looking for answers - yet nothing.

As the United States is facing a major economic crisis, it trickles over to the other areas of the world who depend on their families - some who came to this country to help support them in their land. Not to mention the various import and export manufacturer relations. No longer doing good business here leads to lay offs abroad - the supply and demand are affected.

My question to you - where are you in all this? People continue to die because of a lack of affordable health care, losing there homes due to the loss of jobs, watching big companies and their executives get assistance while the lay person is thrown to the streets, the government assistance requires that a person who seeks aid must go through a multitude of paper work and return visits in order to get assistance if at all and never enough to make their ends meet, not to mention while executives bask in the sunshine at some retreat to release their stress of having to manage billions of dollars that they consistently mismanage and them pass the blame off to the lay person, tears in the eyes of those who went to school, studied and followed the path they were told would ensure their future - some pay back huh?

Where are you? Can you please show up? It's time for a miracle - a spectacular miracle!!

On the Brink of Giving Up

Not a day goes by that I do not think of you or talk to you. I am just tired of it all. The challenges are much too much. I do not believe that this is necessary for me to become stronger. At this rate, I am stronger than Samson. I have experienced enough heart breaking moments and witnessed the continual suffering of others. I too suffer. I help others, I put their needs and concerns above my own. I give all and get more challenges in return. I pray, I believe, I worship and still nothing.

Why are we created? Are we all a part of a big game? Are you getting a kick out of it? How do we proceed? What are we supposed to get out of this? Are we supposed to think that you are great and that you care? It looks like you are a big bully who does not care. We should all be afraid of you because we do not know if we are next on the punishing block. It's like living in a torture chamber - uncertain when the next event will occur. Laughter, happiness, joy all short lived while the hurt lasts much longer and are more frequent. It's been awful rough and I am losing faith in you............ I am really thinking about not thinking of you anymore. You have not showed up for me at all and things are just getting worse.

Promises, promises...............

As a child who waits patiently yet excitedly for her father to show up, I wait for you. I look forward to seeing you come through on the promises that you made in your holy word. I was taught that your word is true and that you never lie. I was also told that you said if I ask I shall receive, if I have faith I can do anything, and most importantly - you never lie. In your word - it states that you promise never to leave me nor forsake me - I don't feel your presence.

I am waiting for you to show up. I am waiting on you to answer my prayers. I am expecting my miracle and I am trusting you to deliver. I have faith - please keep your promise. As your child, I have waited patiently with great excitement and expectation for you to show up - I wait for you.

Where are you? We need your attention......

Dear God,

What is going on? We are told to go to school to further our education. We set our goals to attain higher degrees in order to achieve financial success. Steven Kazmierczak decided not only to interrupt the path of others who had set their goals and was working towards achieving them; he decided to affect the families, friends, fellow classmates and all of us who follow the sad news. Valentines Day will never be the same for many of those who witnessed such hatred or for those who lost their loved ones on that day.

My question today God is where are you? I have always believed that you know all things, see all things and there is nothing that you cannot do - so what happened? How can I feel safe sending my girls off to college? How many lives will this effect in those who are now afraid of going to college? We are told to put our trust in you and I believe that those students just felt safe - after all you wouldn't allow anything so horrendous happen to them - not on Valentines Day!

With all respect, why do you allow these things to happen over and over again? What are we to learn from this? We know that we cannot take life for granted. We all know that tomorrow is not promised. We can go on and on with all of the givens........ However, I am so distracted by all this as I look to you for answers. I just want to hear from you. You know my thoughts and my intentions - please Dear God - we need your attention - it's just too crazy!

Can we just experience a day of peace and love?

Happy Valentines Day!

I know that this is the day that love is highlighted. Couples are planning to celebrate by exchanging gifts, going out to dinner, while proposals are ranked high on this day as well as marriages. It is all about sharing love with that special someone - and God knows there are so many others who do not have anyone to share.

Today Dear God, I pray that all the people who have a special someone to share their love will appreciate what they have in each other. I pray that those who do not have anyone special will find a way to cope with the emphasis that this day brings. How about bringing a dose of comfort and contentment to their lives? Let them know that they are special and loved by you the ultimate pure love. How about a special sign of love through the kindness of others? I know that you decide on how things will go - but I just needed to share this with you.
